HK Clubbing..THE BULL & BEAR

This is a poster inside the Bull and Bear, a popular British Pub in Wanchai, HK. It says: Rule#1. Bartender is always right. Rule#2. If bartender is wrong, see Rule#1.

How about the one written below it?

This is absolutely ridiculous...

I am not really a party-goer, but being with my husband and some friends, this is such a wonderful moment. I got to taste 3 different drinks-bloody mary is worst!!I can't spell the taste-a little sweet, sour, salty and bitter...

The pictures describe the happiness and enjoyment we had that night. We went home AS EARLY AS 4:OO in the morning. Unfair nga kasi ako lang me pasok the next day. Imagine how i was while at the office..no hang-over at least!

How i love to end a week this way...just pure fun!!!

Touring Hong Kong...

One of the newest attractions in Hong Kong is the Nan Lian Garden - a Tang Dynasty-style park that features several precious timber structures, including square and hexagonal pavilions, podiums, multi-layered buildings, and pavilions with thatched roofs.

Every visitor enjoys an atmosphere conducive to serenity and tranquility; an ambience in which they can enjoy moments of leisure and peace of mind, while reflecting on the profound richness of classical Chinese culture.

The one-way circular route allows the visitors to discover the splendour of this lovely garden seemingly unfolds along each step of the way.

Their collection of trees and plants make the place very pleasing and attractive including the Buddhist Pines, bonsai trees, shrubs, flowering species and bamboo; and are accompanied by bizarre rocks and boulders, including petrified wood. The landscape design is so excellent that totally changes your perspective on parks or gardens.

The Pavilion of Absolute Perfection, a gold-leaf covered tower stands at the center of the park. It connects the Lotus pond and Blue Pond that contains a large school of giant koi.
Thinking of a place of refuge, seclusion, or privacy amidst the turmoil of an urban life?..take the road to Nan Lian Garden-Diamond Hill, Kowloon Hong Kong.

Work on Weekends???

How many people out there who may come to encounter this blogspot, need to wake up early on a Saturday to get to work?.. yup, you're reading it right..I go to work on Saturdays...and worst, also on Sundays(my Sunday services are being sacrificed to rush in to the office!!!).. So unusual to me because I used to have a Monday-Friday job. While there maybe times I had to work on a Saturday, only "very" occassional.

Sometimes, I would think, it was out of desperation why I accepted the job. I was a plain housewife for more than a month and I really wanted to get a job in the soonest possible time!(got another post on this, next time)..

The job is being an administrative assistant. In fairness, the workload is soooo light. Its a 5 day job. Half days on Wednesday-Friday, whole day on Saturday and half day on Sunday..Lower your eyebrows, yes, I do feel lucky too of having this job. Only a few people is blessed with a not so stressful job nowadays(I'm one of those chosen few..yahoooo!!!)Now what am I complaining at???.It's because while I'm at work, all the people I know are having a good time, enjoying their weekends(day-off)...that includes my husband!!(that's it!)..We cant spend our day-offs together..hmmmp!Then when my day-offs come, everybody is at work..I've got no one to share it with...huhuhu!

In case your thinking, so what do I do on my day-off?..tell you next time..

Thank God for my husband..

He is the next best man(my father is the no.1)..Love you honey!

Our friends and relatives often joke, para lng daw
kami mag-boyfriend. We've been married for almost 2 years but its like, most the time, still on our honeymoon stage. We enjoy each moment together(having no baby yet, hehehe!)

He's sweet and thoughtful..(more thoughtful than I am)..Very understanding, too. Sometimes i act like a kid-selfish, inconsiderate, irate but he disregard them all.. All out of love, he always says.

I'm just thankful to be blessed with a man like him. In my own little way, I make him the most-loved husband in the whole world.

Together, we can pursue our dreams. We both believe God has great plans for us..and he has started to reveal them..

My reason for living...

I mentioned in my first post what made me decide to make my own blogspot..i find it therapeutic!
It's been a year now since i first experience having difficulty in breathing..i felt nervous, my heart beat faster, my palms were all sweat..and so the list goes on..I thought it was a heart attack and I would die that day. I was rushed in the hospital and diagnosed of having heartburn. To treat it, I had medication for 2 weeks and cut my cravings on coffee, chocolate, donuts as they would aggravate Heartburn..(those are my favorites!!!)
Some say, its manifestation of depression and anxiety. My husband was leaving to HK and they say i might just be depressed that's why. It cannot be, coz if that's the reason then how long will i endure?..I am so inlove with my husband as in deeply in love (will post about this next time) and being away with him is such a great struggle..
There were couple of times i rushed myself to the hospital. Whenever I get anxious, I could not breathe well, I know it would get worst and all i thought would be in the hospital in the soonest possible time(even in the wee hours of the morning).. I have undergone all the medical examination and thank God, the results were all fine. What's the prescription of the doctors??To rest my mind, have peace!!..

I am now living with my husband in HK(just after few months)..I still get anxious..Why?..There are so many reasons. 1. I became so dependent on my husband. I always want him to be on my side(so selfish). 2. I always think of my family left in the Philippines. 3. That when I get anxious, I could die..Anything that connotes death is such terrifying to me. Forwarded e-mails that if you don't send, something will happen to you. That even while creating this post, I thought it would be my last(morbid)...Where's my faith???I've been claiming to have a great God but why i just can't conquer my fears, worries?? My husband often tells me because I don't give my all to Him. I don't trust Him fully.
I'm doing everything to fight the negative thoughts in me. Yes, im a great worrier. With all the diversion tactics I do, I guess the best is having faith in God. I know I just need to leave everything to God and He will take care of eveything. In those times, I started to read the Bible and prayed really by heart. My favorite verse is Jer. 29:11. If not having my husband and my family on my side is the cause of my anxiety, I just recite the verse and say a prayer..
Now why I posted this???Because I read, pouring out your negative thoughts in writing is a great therapy..couple it with big faith!..What's keepin' me alive? Because I know God is with me,i just need to believe in Him. In Prov. 3:5-6 it says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."..My God is incomparable to my fears..i know by faith, i'll be fine!!no more fears!!..
I want this to be my testimony..how God is working on me and my family!!!(more wonders of God in my life next time)...

Don't let your negative thoughts control your action, God is in control of everything!!!

Beach Get-away...

Taking a break from urban noise, crowd and yeah pollution?
Grab your swimming outfit and head to the southern part of Hong Kong...Shek O Beach!!

The name "Shek O" literally means the "rocky bay". Shek O is famous for beautiful scenery. A wonderful peninsula...having green and rocky mountains on the other side...
But It was'nt a healthy get-away though as the temperature was so high on that day..imagine 42 degrees!!!Unless, to get tanned is the main purpose of the get-away or just stay under the shade to enjoy the place..at least!!
Still, we headed home with all smile on (our faces) my face...
(P.S. A better digicam could have made this shot a lot clearer)..

How about Pebble Walking???

Many of us disregard walking as there are already many types of transportation that would take you to your destination. Everyday, we're always in a hurry and walking would only make you all sweat. Eww, disgusting!!.
But I'm sure most of us already know the benefits of walking...

Few weeks ago, i received an email about health and fitness: it says the organs of our body have sensory touches at the bottom of our foot, that if you massage these points, you will find relief from aches and pains...

At the Victoria Park, there is this Pebble Walk trail..
Don't miss this wonderful experience..or better make it a part of your fitness program to walk on this stone-paved walkway..Feel the relieving effect on your feet as being massaged by the pebble.. Keep on walking to press on these pressure points to keep the organs in their best condition..

"When the moon is full, mankind is one!"

In China and throughout many Asian countries people celebrate the Harvest Moon on the 15th day of the eighth month of their lunar calendar. The date in the Western calendar changes yearly. This year, it falls on September 14, 2008. Yes, it was on a Sunday and it was not my day-off. When we were at the office, students were calling one after the other asking if they have classes and we told them "yes there is!" We told our boss about it and he felt guilty, he should have set it as a center holiday. The Harvest Moon or Mid-Autumn Festival (Zhong Qiu Jie) is a day of family reunions much like a Western Thanksgiving. Thanks to him because he let us go home 2 hours earlier.

Chinese people believe that on that day, the moon is the roundest and brightest signaling a time of completeness and abundance. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, children are delighted to stay up past midnight, parading multi-colored lanterns into the wee hours as families take to the streets to moon-gaze. In Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, it's sometimes referred to as the Lantern Festival, (not to be confused with a similar celebration during the Chinese New Year), but whatever name it goes by, the centuries-old festival remains a beloved annual ritual celebrating an abundance of food and family.

It was our first time to celebrate Chinese Moon Festival a.k.a Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival in a Chinese country. And it is indeed another wonderful experience and pictures to be added in our scrapbook....now blogspot!

Moon Cake Festival

During the Yuan dynasty (A.D.1280-1368) China was ruled by the Mongolian people. Leaders from the preceding Sung dynasty (A.D.960-1280) were unhappy to live under foreign rule. They decided to coordinate a rebellion without it being discovered. The leaders of the rebellion, knowing that the Moon Festival was drawing near, ordered the making of special cakes. Inside each moon cake was a message with the outline of the attack. Because it's a Han (the main clan before the Mongolian took over) cake, the Mongolian people are not interested. On the night of the Moon Festival, the rebels successfully attacked and overthrew the government. What followed was the establishment of the Ming dynasty (A.D. 1368-1644). Today, moon cakes are eaten to commemorate this legend.

Some of our thoughtful students gave us mooncakes..Since Friday, I've been bringing home moon cakes. And we got another one from a churchmate last Sunday..And I might be bringing home some more when I go to work tomorrow cause there's still 1 box waiting to be eaten. I might as well share to some friends, what do you think?
Thanks to all of you.
Will eating a lot of moon cakes also bring abundance?..or will just make you bundat?..hehehe..Just make sure you drink tea after eating some,okay?..I learned that from ate Mila(RCCGO churchmate).

Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival 2008

September 14, Sunday, all over Hong Kong is crowded as they are celebrating "The Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival". It is one of the most charming and picturesque nights of the calendar. 2008 celebration includes Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnivals, Spectacular Lantern Exhibitions and the amazing Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance.

During the festival, people eat special sweet cakes known as "Moon Cakes" made of ground lotus and sesame seed paste, egg-yolk and other ingredients. Along with the cakes, shops sell coloured Chinese paper lanterns in the shapes of animals, and more recently, in the shapes of aeroplanes and space ships. On this family occasion, parents allow children to stay up late and take them to high vantage points such as The Peak to light their lanterns and watch the huge autumn moon rise while eating their moon cakes. Public parks are ablaze with many thousands of lanterns in all colours, sizes and shapes.

Traditionally, on this day, Chinese family members and friends will gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, and eat moon cakes and pomeloes together. While there may be different legends and customs being believed and practiced on this festival, the most striking part is that you see families gathered together: happy, united...

minsan me isang (nag-isip) bata!

I am already 28y.o. but I don't see anything wrong in this picture. I was like a kid having fun in a park. Yes, this pic was taken in a children's playground at the Victoria Park..In my very poor memory, I can't recall any moment like this when i was a little girl..Its because there were no leisure parks or playground in our village, not even in my school..Yep, i hailed from a countryside. Some of the things I enjoyed during my early days were swimming in the river, playing hopscotch, bawang base(that's how we name it,i dont know if you are familar with it.)..basta yun na yun..of course hide and seek!..I was a typical girl from the barrio, and would jump to happiness when our mom would tell us were going to Laoag, the capital city of Ilocos Norte. Why such jubilation?Because, our place is 2 hours travel to Laoag, and its a lot more progressive than our village..In Laoag, there are playgrounds...but not as beautiful, safe and enjoying as those they have here in HK..Hello,wake up Lerry..you're not being patriotic. Don't ever compare, okay?

a neophyte blogger...

a beginner, a neophyte, novice..what else? i dont mind because i never imagined myself a writer or so..i never had a diary! i almost failed in my Values Education class back in high school because i didn't do the Journal Writing???writing a letter, be it just a casual or business, duh,it would take me hours to make one!!! you might be thinking how about love letters(a thing in the past)?well, thanks to Hallmark cards they got Between You and Me to help all tongue-tied like me..hehehe!
Now,what made me create my own blog? Last month, Mr. Antonio Carranza, a former colleague and friend invited me to view his blogspot.I was free that time(as always esp. in the evening as i am almost always home alone) checked it and i got struck! Maybe because I also love to travel and seeing pictures of different places makes me feel ive been to that place. And i kinda like what he posts-from his travels, awesome nature, architecture, pride of filipinos and more(pakaleklalawak.blogspot.com). yan ha,Don Carranza, i advertised your page here. From then on, it became a habit checking his blog as i find it therapeutic..I always praise his work but another friend contradicts kasi daw pangit. Nagandahan ako, it's the very first blog entry ive read (as far as i can remember!)..or should i say read seriously! coz for me that's minding other's business.."just an opinion" says Simon.well, that's before but then since i find blog postings interesting, informative and therapeutic, i also decided to make my own..
Many people say, writing is one way of relieving one's self of stress, fatigue, anxiety.. and i finally agree. Now i hope a new habit will be formed(not another ningas cogon thing plzzz!). Cross you fingers that you would see another postings here..hehehe!
